Cute shops and restaurants and food trucks.
Get Shave Ice at Matsumoto Shave Ice (we promise the line moves fast).
Watch surfers or take a surf lesson.
Go shark diving.
The beach and the botanic garden are separate places directly across the road from each other, which makes them a great way to spend an afternoon.
The falls are beautiful and located inside the botanic garden which costs $25 to enter. Local residents can go for free on Thursdays.
The beach, of course, is always free in Hawaii. And a great spot for swimming and cliff jumping. Make sure to ask a local if you don't know where to jump!
SUP or kayak up a scenic still water river in Haleiwa. Oahu has slow moving fresh water rivers and they are super fun to explore.
If you're considering doing a Lu'au do this instead! Learn the history of the Polynesian and asian cultures that make up Hawaii. We know its expensive but so is a Lu'au and at least you get a Lu'au + museum. Think a smaller version of Disneys Epcot museum but about Hawaii.
We recommend: Islands of Polynesia & Hā: Breath of Life Package
Kualoa is a 4,000-acre private nature reserve and working cattle ranch, as well as a popular tourist attraction and filming location on the windward coast of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi.
It is about 32 miles from Haleiwa but worth the drive. Tour the movie sets of almost every single movie ever filmed in Hawaii including Jurassic Park and Lost.
The Kahuku Food Trucks are an awesome grouping of food trucks with something for literally everyone.
A few of our favorites:
Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck
Get the garlic shrimp here it's famous on island!
Sugah Daddeh's
If you're looking for an acai bowl order the Hapa Bowl here. It is soo good, especially the yogurt?! Might be our favorite acai bowl on the island.
Babadi Sushi
AMAZING sushi right from a food truck 🤯
Da Bald Guy
Great Hawaiian Food at a food truck, worth the long line. Get here early because they close once they sell out and they sell out every single day.
Seven Brothers
Had to make the list, everyone loves this place.
Casual, island inspired restaurant with a good local crowd and a beautiful patio with a great view of sunset.
We also love to do happy hour here they have great food and drink specials, but they only do happy hour in the bar not the patio.
Great made to order Mexican food from a food truck! Super cute seating area.
Waimea is famous for its 30-foot waves in the winter and is a top place to watch some of the world’s best and bravest surfers.
It is huge and a fun place to lay out.
There is also a botanical garden across the road that is only $4 per person to enter and we love to stop here when we are driving through.
Parking can be busy, however we always have luck just pulling over to the side and waiting for someone to leave.
Laniakea is a beach where you commonly see sea turtles resting on the sand.
Look for a volunteer to answer any questions you may have about sea turtles.
Beach right next to turtle bay resort. You can rent snorkel equipment or beach chairs here and also buy drinks and food from Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi.
Sea turtle habitat.

Beautiful semi private beach set back from the road in a small neighborhood of the North Shore, The sand is beautifully pink and soft as a little bit of rocky entry but you can find a nice Sandy entry just down the way.
